A temporary inbox may suit a short, permitted product evaluation. The important transition occurs when the trial becomes useful enough to keep.
Before starting
Read the trial conditions and identify whether payment details, a lasting contact address or specific eligibility are required. Check how cancellation works and whether the product allows changing the account email. Do not assume that letting an inbox expire cancels the trial.
During the evaluation
- Use synthetic or non-sensitive data until you understand the product.
- Record the trial end date in a place you control.
- Check export options before building something you would not want to lose.
- Keep important billing or contractual communication on a durable address.
Before keeping the account
- Replace the temporary address with a maintained mailbox or alias.
- Complete verification at the new address and any approval at the old one.
- Review recovery settings and multi-factor authentication where available.
- Only then add valuable files, teammates or an ongoing paid plan.
If the trial is not useful
Cancel through the service's supported controls, export permitted material you need and close the account if appropriate. Email deletion affects your copy of messages; it does not end your agreement with the software provider.
Temporary email is a way to separate a low-stakes evaluation from the main inbox. It is not a guarantee of trial eligibility or a substitute for long-term account ownership.
